چکیده
Abstract Background We previously showed 8-week of fish oil supplementation attenuated muscle damage. However, the effect a shorter period is unclear. The present study investigated oil, eicosapentaenoic acid (EPA) and docosahexaenoic (DHA), for 4 weeks on muscular damage caused by eccentric contractions (ECCs) elbow flexors. Methods Twenty-two untrained men were recruited in this double-blind, placebo-controlled, parallel design subjects randomly assigned to EPA DHA group (EPA DHA, n = 11) placebo (PL, 11). They consumed either 600 mg 260 per day or supplement prior exercise. Subjects performed 60 ECCs at 100 % maximal voluntary contraction (MVC) using dumbbell. Changes MVC torque, range motion (ROM), upper arm circumference, soreness, echo intensity, thickness, serum creatine kinase (CK), interleukin-6 (IL-6) assessed before exercise; immediately after 1, 2, 3, 5 days Results ROM was significantly higher than PL performing ( p < 0.05). No differences between groups observed terms thickness. A significant difference CK 3 Conclusions concluded that benefits joint flexibility protection fiber following ECCs.

Effect of eicosapentaenoic acids-rich fish oil supplementation on motor nerve function after eccentric contractions
BACKGROUND This study investigated the effect of supplementation with fish oil rich in eicosapentaenoic acid (EPA) and docosahexaenoic acid (DHA) on the M-wave latency of biceps brachii and muscle damage after a single session of maximal elbow flexor eccentric contractions (ECC). METHODS Twenty-one men were completed the randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled, and parallel-design study....
متن کاملWhey Protein Supplementation is Associated with Antioxidant Markers Following Severe Eccentric Contractions in Obesity
Objective: Intense muscle contractions are associated with oxidative stress and immune system deficiency, especially in the presence of obesity. This study aimed to determine the effect of whey protein supplementation following eccentric resistance contractions on some determinants of oxidative stress in non-athletic obese students. Materials and Methods: In this double blinded randomized clin...
متن کاملLong-term supplementation of docosahexaenoic acid-rich, eicosapentaenoic acid-free microalgal oil in n-3 fatty acid-deficient rat pups.
Rat pups deficient in n-3 fatty acids received an oral administration of docosahexaenoic acid (DHA)-rich, eicosapentaenoic acid (EPA)-free microalgal oil (DMO) or fish oil (FO). DMO administration almost restored liver EPA to the level of the control diet-fed dam's pups, but FO administration did not. This suggests that EPA could be recovered in the liver, even though EPA-free DMO was supplemen...

Benefits of eicosapentaenoic acid (EPA) can be enhanced by raising their bioavailability through microencapsulation.Pollen can be emptied to form hollow shells, known as exines, and then used to encapsulate material, such as oils in a dry powder form.6 healthy volunteers ingested 4.6 g of fish oil containing 20% EPA in the form of ethyl-ester first alone and then as 1:1 microencapsulated powder ...
متن کاملEccentric contractions lead to myofibrillar dysfunction in muscular dystrophy.
It is commonly accepted that skeletal muscles from dystrophin-deficient mdx mice are more susceptible than those from wild-type mice to damage from eccentric contractions. However, the downstream mechanisms involved in this enhanced force drop remain controversial. We studied the reduction of contractile force induced by eccentric contractions elicited in vivo in the gastrocnemius muscle of wil...
